Link Chain are produced by small groups of equipment or units. These units include forming machines, welding machines, alignment machines and sometimes twisting machines. The former receives wire, stamps it with grade and tracking codes, and then cuts it to the approximate length required for the chain link. This part is formed as a link which interconnects with a previously formed link so that the links formed from the wire form a Link Chain.
The Link Chain is then passed to a welding machine, where each link is mechanically welded without filler by heating the edges of the wire ends and forging them together. Excess material is trimmed.
After the Link Chain is formed and welded, it is calibrated to ensure consistency in the length of each link. This process also tests the strength of the chain, focusing specifically on the welded parts.
Samples of welded chains cut multiple times from the production process are tested every shift to verify the integrity of the welds and check physical properties. Data from each test is stored electronically for future reference.

After the inspection is completed, the Link Chain will be loaded into the storage box and awaits the next step.
The next process step is determined by the grade of the Link Chain and the customer's special requirements. Some of the Link Chain will be sent to our quench and temper induction heat treater, where it will be heated to 1600 to 1700 degrees Fahrenheit, quenched in water, and then tempered at 400 to 600 degrees.
From here, the chain will automatically undergo verification testing to twice its workload limit. These Link Chains will be put into barrels or cut and assembled into many products, mainly drag and strapping chains and agricultural safety chains. Please note that all Link Chains must not be used with a load exceeding their rated working load limit and only alloy chains may be used for overhead lifting.
For other grades of Link Chain, such as inspection coils or high test chains, no heat treatment is required. Therefore, the next process after forming and welding will be packaging, shot blasting, hot-dip galvanizing, galvanizing or other special coatings. The finished welded Link Chain is packaged and ready for shipment, but is most likely just cut and assembled into various assembled products. The chain is then shipped to the customer ready for use or resale.
